Kabluey (2007)

Leslie is left with few options when her husband is sent back to war in the Middle East. A modest amount of help arrives in the form of his brother, Salman, who is less than prepared to care for the couple's two preadolescent boys. When Leslie still can't make ends meet on her own, Salman is forced to find employment, but, with minimal qualifications, his only option is to become a mascot for a digital company by donning a bulbous blue costume.

The perfect American family comes to the screen yet again with tears and sadness. The brain dead lead is hilarious in his stupidity and brings a quirky style as do the other characters in the movie. Actors give a strong performance creating a very obscure manner and a rather surreal film. Lisa proves her acting worth. Nibbles: Lollipops.

This movie is amazing. Probably one of the greatest films of this year. Scott Prendergast is a genius.

The blue thing you see on the posterâ?¦well it just says everything about this film. Bland, slightly depressing, and well, not that many words are spoken, however, at the same time the characters are interesting; most times youâ??ll want to jump into the screen and just give their hopeless asses a good kick to get them revving. And that is what this whole film builds towards. I wouldnâ??t want to spoil it but it is just so beautifully done. And donâ??t forget the music, itâ??s a bit odd but all very appropriate. Anyway, just watch it and see what you think. Kabluey, peculiar yet so wonderful. Itâ??s a strange one.

I saw this when it debuted at the LA Filmfest. Makes you really appreciate what the families of our veterans in Irag are going through. Wonderful character work by Conhata Ferrell. Great to see Teri Garr on screen again.

If you love quirky movies such as Napoleon Dynamite, you will love this movie. It is my new favorite! It is the kind of nuanced movie that you can watch over and over, without getting tired off it.
