Kabluey (2007)

Leslie is left with few options when her husband is sent back to war in the Middle East. A modest amount of help arrives in the form of his brother, Salman, who is less than prepared to care for the couple's two preadolescent boys. When Leslie still can't make ends meet on her own, Salman is forced to find employment, but, with minimal qualifications, his only option is to become a mascot for a digital company by donning a bulbous blue costume.

While the film's social-satire elements are flat and overly familiar, its dry absurdity is unmistakably Lynchian.

Another in the "odd people dealing with reality" subgenre of indie films. It was a slow-paced movie, but that gave it time to work the story out to its potential, which was good. I think that's why I like a lot of indie comedies, because they give themselves time to complete a whole story, instead of dropping things because they think they have to keep it fast paced.

Surprisingly fun movie with a touch of dark humor. Full of great character actors, though they could have left the marsha from the brady bunch out of it. Felt like they just put it there for her name and face. Conchata Ferrel would have been more of a pull for me.

excellent quirky independent comedy, its quiet treatment on the theme of alienation is deceptively effective; Kudrow is brilliant, and I adore the girl from the supermarket

This movie makes my day every time I watch it. It is a small indie film with a lot of heart and the big blue mascot is perfectly metaphoric for isolation. A very well made movie that I hope others see.
