They just had to shoehorn Batman in there didn't they? And what was with making Deadman the comic relief...? Besides that it was pretty damn fun. It's nice to see the darkside characters for once. These connected animated movies are starting to feel less and less like films though, and more of a serial. Why don't they just convert this into a series? Especially when half the time they're struggling to stretch out their stories to 70 minutes...

A dark, intelligent and violent animated adaptation of DC's Justice League Dark team. Full tilt action and frightening imagery make this one of the stronger DC animated films.

With an R rated edge and some crazy supernatural elements plus a lot of cool darker lesser known DC characters this is one of the better animated superhero movies of late. Even though this New 52 Justice League still continues to lack the connection of earlier animated versions of the characters. However the animation is good for a direct to video feature and I imagine fans of these characters will be pleased with their portrayal here

I really enjoyed this and would love more films focussing on Constantine et al. I thought with a short run time it managed to get exposition covered whilst keeping the plot moving along. I was almost hoping that it had been longer to allow some scenes to breathe.

The 'dark' of the title may have some magical connotation, but what sets this team apart is their contrast to the straight-laced do-gooders of the Justice League, they have other priorities and the film's exploration of these and the way the difference is used to subvert expectations is where it triumphs. The actual magic weighs it down more than anything, the problem with magic based on spells is that there are no rules to it's hard to be concerned for our heroes' defeat or impressed by their safety. While it's nice to see a different part of the DC universe given the spotlight, but there's almost too much mythology, backstories are given where they aren't needed, and they eat into the short runtime. Still the characters are all interesting, they have great chemistry with one another and they are worth watching as they provide a great deal of laughs and just a little bit of heart.
