Billy (Cliff Curtis) is trying to organize the biggest celebration the town of Waimatua has even seen - the 75th Jubilee of their school. In doing this, feckless Billy is trying to redeem himself in the eyes of his family, especially his frustrated wife Pauline (Theresa Healey). However trouble arrives with the return of a local former All Blacks Captain, an old flame of Pauline's.

amazing Derek Jarman pastiche of punk 1970's London a true masterpiece

OK, perhaps not a great film - but great ideas and great music makes up for that.

I'm not too crazy about Jarman's vision of the '77 British punk era. Scattered scenes of chaos, sex, and violence. Not much impressed me in this film.

What is it with these Punk era films?? As with Rude Boy, amazing sound and visuals are left to meander. I'm not necessary saying that this movie needs a plot, but a little more coherence would be nice.

A perfect representation of where you stand in watching film. On it's surface it's vulgar, absurd and annoying but with just a little imagination it becomes art of the highest order. Complex ideas are thrown at you from every angle and with little time to react, you feel like a jumbled mess at the end. But in a good way.
