It Happened at the World's Fair (1963)

Mike and Danny fly a cropduster, but because of Danny's gambling debts, a local sheriff takes custody of it. Trying to earn money, they hitch-hike to the World's Fair in Seattle and, while Danny tries to earn money playing poker, Mike takes care of a small girl whose father has disappeared. Being a ladies' man, he also finds the time to court a young nurse.

Look for Kurt Russel as a little kid. He kisk Elvis. Way to go Snake Plitkin !!!

As a time capsule for The 1962 World's Fair, it's a curiosity - as a film it's not up to much, only the musical interludes offers up something of interest in terms of the 'Elvis' persona. Kurt Russell pops up in a couple of scenes as a pre-teenage kid, supplying a couple of decent comedy lines too, which is the other curiosity of the movie giving it some interest value.

This movie was silly. Kurt Russell's first role in a movie, at the age of 12. The parts with Kurt Russell were definitely my favourite parts of this movie, too. Nice, simple story, which is always expected from an Elvis movie, but it's still a good break from movies with crazy, complex stories.

What happened, somebody steal your wolf whistle? Mike Edwards: Hey kid, how would you like to kick me in the shin? Boy: How would I like to kick you in the shin? Mike Edwards: Uhum. Boy: Mister are you drunk? Mike Edwards: No. I'll tell you what, if you kick me in the shin I'll give you a quarter, here. [Gives the boy a quarter and the boy kicks him] Mike Edwards: [in pain] Yeoww! That's good! Thanks kid. [limps off] Boy: [shaking his head] Adults, there're all nuts ! Sue Lin: Ohhhh! Ohhhh! I don't feel good, Mr. Mike. I don't feel good! Mike Edwards: I wonder why!
