Mathew Modine really destroys In the Shadows with some terrible acting but even with a better actor in the lead the script and plot are weak so not much better would have come of it.

It was going to get a 5/10... Till the ending, during which all manner of unjustifiable things happen. Why does Lance Cooper bother to go down to the garage? Why does what's-his-face the mobster even bother to go back to the Cooper household? Why doesn't Cooper blow him away when he shows up? Why doesn't what's-his-face the mobster blow the Coopers away when Lance doesn't blow him away? And what's up with the whole morally ambiguous ending? Waste of time. Cuba Gooding Jr. and Joey Lauren Adams are decent in it though.
