I totally enjoyed this movie. I almost didn't watch it because of negative reviews. That would have been a huge mistake on my part. Not every great movie is a crash em up bang em up spectacle.

Surprisingly good! .... touching story of the basis for Moby Dick. Chris Hemsworth proves that he can carry more than merely Thors' hammer; amazing tale of courage and honesty.

I guess there wasn't enough violence and death for the critics to approve. This is a very good movie and deserves to be watched and enjoyed!

I'm giving this 5 stars to offset the 41% rating that it certainly doesn't deserve. instances. The tale of Moby Dick is a slower moving story depicting what it would've been like to have a hostile whale wanting to protect the herd. And of the hardships of sailors during the whaling period in New England. There isn't a metal robot blowing up buildings or a flying man, and most people expecting such will walk away disappointed. But it answers the story of Moby Dick with perfection. If you've ever sailed, been at sea, or stood on the beach and wondered "what is it like out there, and what happened in history?" with sailing ships, sailors, and whaling. The cinematography alone answers this with splendid visuals that have been attempted in previous seafaring movies but never matched.
