Import Export is a work of the utmost political importance. It is also, in its rigour and fearlessness, its sorrow and pitilessness, an outstanding artistic achievement.

A bleak movie about an existence of 2 people, one in Easter Europe, and one in Western. The depiction of post-communist Ukrainian life is spot on. The director doesn't patronize the viewer so it's entirely up to the audience to decide how to feel for the characters. The dialogue is completely improvised so it feels very natural. The movie unfortunately tends to drag at times, and also it maybe a bit difficult to follow if you don't understand either Russian or German.

A realistic portrayal of the stories of people who try to make a new life in the west/east after the collapse of the Soviet Bloc. It's like a dead end, full of brutalities and despair. Life in the East/West is just as bleak. At the end, there may be some hope, depending on how you maintaiin your sanity/ keep hoping for the better.

Bleek and cold movie. It tries to wake you up, seriosly. The world is cruel and tough, and many people on this earth can't do much to change their situation. This very slow paced and "quiet" movie got a lot of great features - and a few poor ones. The production is great. It creates an atmosphere that is magnificent, it actually made me feel really cold in some of the outdoor scenes. The camera work and the many still-scenes is also a feature that is important for making it so memorable. The plot it self is good and sad, and the actors perform well. Poorer aspects about this flick is that it's boring an very long. Still, this makes it very realistic and we get to know the characters well. If you're up for an slow paced, shocking, sad and honest movie that you can keep in your mind for a while this might be your best option.
