Immediate Family (1989)

Linda and Michael, married for ten years, desperately want a baby and turn to an adoption agency which introduces them to Lucy, a teenage girl expecting her first baby. The three agree that Linda and Michael will adopt Lucy's baby and that Lucy will sign away custody. Things don't go quite to plan however..

Love this movie. Simple, raw and real...four great actors are what really pull this film together. One of my most quoted lines from this movie is, "Only one of us gets be crazy at a time."

If it's the movie I think it is, it's pretty movie-of-the-week, after-school-specialish, but it was still pretty watchable.

Equally brilliant and meaningful today in 2009 as the first time I watched in 1989. Realistic portrayals, powerful soundtrack and genuine emotion. While the subject matter has its sad moments, there are appropriately timed smiles and thought provoking silences.
