Thank god cRitereon saw fit to putthis out. Based on the poem by Kipling and the screenwriter's own experiences in a hellish British bording school. Was both despised and praised at it's original release.

Just released on DVD by Criteron, so you know it's amazing. Best film ever. Exactly what a great movie experience should be about. It's SO hard to find any information or resources on this film, so having the commentary track and additional extras was a godsend, especially after 38 years of wondering.

One of the most important and best disaffected youth films. Perhaps the first English film to match the works of Godard and Truffaut.

Malcolm McDowell is amazing, but the film is great too. Lindsay Anderson's bizzare to colour to black and white direction is great (Although it might have just been a case that they ran out of money, but on the dvd commentary lovely Malcolm says that he had been a fan of that style from watching another film) and the story and the surrealism are fantastic. I love it so much, its great. Great film. Mcdowell is brilliant.

Saw this for the 2nd time of film4 not too long ago and remembered how much i loved this film. The tension between the class like system in the school acting as a metaphor for the class system in Britain is just brilliant. The final sequences on the rooftops are just fantastic. It doesn't mater if its unrealistic, its probably not supposed to be! I just wish poeple would watch these kind of films and just for once be open minded! This is a brilliant film. Fact.
