This is a meditative film. It is a character study and moves slowly. I Will Follow explores the complex and rocky landscape of loss, dreams, maturation and courage. It asks the question, "what will you do when you reach your crossroads? Follow truth and intuition, or believe everyone else?" Loved it. A movie about real life, starring black people.

For an Indie film not bad. Moderate pace with very little character growth however I read it was filmed in 15 days. Although it dealt with grief, I suspect the main character used her aunt's sickness as justification to escape from her life for a while. See it.

You should get to the theater and see this movie, if at all possible. It's a great drama featuring notable performances by several stars, with the standout role belonging to Salli Richardson-Whitefield. If there's any justice in Hollywood this movie should take her career to a new level.

As a director, DuVernay handles her actors with care, though visually the picture sometimes betrays its shoestring budget.
