Good film but must be considered apart from the original novel. It does not follow true to Dodie Smith's intent.

This was was a good movie but I was hoping for a twist that would make everything turn out the way I wanted it to and it just didn't happen. So it really was good but I'm addicted to the chick flicks that turn out the way you see coming a mile away, which I usually like, and this was a deeper drama that is more about the story, the feelings and the meaning of things.

One of my favourite films of all time. The Mortmains are so cute and quirky. Romola Garai is impressive in her first leading role and she has continued to impress. Tara Fitzgerald's Topaz is my favourite though. Her love and devotion to her stepchildren is beautifully portrayed. I'm with all the people who wanted Cassandra to end up with Stephen. But, I like the ambiguous ending of the movie where she says, "I will love!"

I rather enjoyed this pelicula. Was enjoyable and heartwarming, though I wished some of the plot could have ended differently! A few rather dishy members of the case ;), but overall a great British film!
