Atmosphere makes up for much, as does the Hans Salter score, a clever script with bright dialogue and a first-rate cast.

An interesting little Grade B mystery adventure with just as much fun as cliche. It's all here; a deserted island, a group of colourful characters spending the night in a haunted castle and a mysterious interloper known only as the Phantom. Classic! Dick Foran, Peggy Moran, Fuzzy Knight and Leo Carrillo all add to the fun.

You kind of expect an island full of monsters or something. So to find out it's basically an old house mystery is a real let down.
