Hocus Pocus 2 wasn't that good. I can see why they took so long to make another movie on it.

There are some laughs, and director Anne Fletcher — like Kenny Ortega, who did the first one, she’s dance-trained and a veteran choreographer — manages a far smoother amalgam of effects, mood swings, mugging, headless-zombie comic relief and heartstring-yanking that miraculously almost kind of partly works. All in all, it’s twice as good as Hocus Pocus. It’s easier to write that if you didn’t like Hocus Pocus.

Pointless and unfunny sequel I really enjoyed the first hocus pocus film that released nearly 30 years ago. However, the 2022 sequel is not nearly as interesting or exciting as the original film or any other film. Everything presented in the film just seems very unnecessary and random. The song sequences feel like they were cut short and the special effects were underwhelming. The 3 main teenagers in the film felt thrown in and also very random and not a lot of backstory were given to them. I just couldn't find any meaning or reason to this film other than it was just made to get more subscribers for the Disney channel streaming platform.

I actually liked this - I went in with very low expectations and I was surprised how much they captured the essence of the original. It’s a fun time. It’s not as good as the first film but it’s really enjoyable and entertaining if you’re a fan. It uses the exact same formula as the original just different songs, slightly different of the era jokes, and new characters.
