"Hillsong - Let Hope Rise" is a documentary about the Australian Christian rock band Hillsong United. In the film, they are preparing for a concert at The Forum in Los Angeles, and the story transitions from the actual concert to the backstory. This film accomplished its intended message of lauding faith without proselytizing. It wasn't heavy handed at all and instead made for an enjoyable moviegoing experience about the band and its roots. The only thing I didn't like is that the film became too much of a documentary without creating a holistic picture of the band and its place in the pantheon of Christian Rock. We are given bits and pieces of a bigger story but never the whole story. I still enjoyed it for what it was but it played it surprisingly safe -------------------------------------------------- B

Structurally, Hillsong: Let Hope Rise is hopelessly confused, jumping back and forth in time and space documenting the buildup to a big Hillsong United show at The Forum in Los Angeles, where the band will debut its new album.

Thankful for these young performers at Hillsong United. The love they have for Jesus! They show it Especially by going out among the young in underprivileged areas.
