Luchino's routine morning elevator ride up from her subterranean home on level 138 to her school many stories above turns horrific when the elevator operator is ordered to pick up two passengers from floor 99, the maximum security level. What starts as psychological manipulation soon turns wholly physical as both the cruel convicts and Luchino's own dysfunctional past are unleashed. And then every passenger must fight for his or her survival.

An enjoyable yet heavily flawed film that feels like it should have been awesome, but doesn't quite get there. There are some fantastic concepts in here but it feels like the film-makers are trying to cram too many of them into a measly 97-minute running time. However, if you're at all a fan of dark, surreal sci-fi (i.e. Cube, Dark City, etc.) it's well worth seeing as it's still a quite decent and fascinating piece of work.

This is a rare example. It's a low budget sci-fi/horror movie that doesn't suck. Imagine what would happen if Saw didn't suck and was plagued with a 1984 sense of paranoia. Except better. Much better.

This movie makes you feel really uneasy. It doesn't need great sets, or an elaborate storyline, it just takes a very claustrophobic setting and makes you feel terribly uneasy.

If your going to limit 90% of your movie to the confined walls of an elevator you better make sure to do something extra special, not spend the whole time spilling blood and making each character seem weirder than they already are.
