In 2016 the sun has turned the entire world into a scorched and barren wasteland. The humans who have survived are either resourceful or violent, and sometimes both. Marie, her little sister Leonie, and best friend Phillip, are in a car headed to the mountains - rumor has it there is water there. Along the way they meet Tom, a first-rate mechanic. But can they trust him? Fraught with deep distrust, the group is lured into an ambush where their real battle for survival begins.

Very well directed, but hampered by a very predictable script and unengaging characters. The third act twist into horror brings no credibility and undermines much of the authenticity of this post-apocalyptic world that the first third tried establishing. A real shame, as the core idea of a world where the sun is slowly roasting us alive had so much dramatic potential.

What starts out as a very interesting, with a great pacing post-apocalyptic thriller à lá The Road quickly shifts gear by the 45min mark onto just straight thriller/horror which is it's biggest setback because the movie stalls and turns into just another "let's escape these evil-doers" kind of movie. The character interactions were great at first and felt realistic enough for the situations at hand. The acting was overall pretty good and the cinematography and directing was top notch with such a small budget but such a shame it shifted gears towards the end. Borrows a bit too much from The Road but lacks the intimacy and amazingly grim mood the aformentioned created.

hell(bright) is a post-apokaliptik. in year 2016, water is finished because of high temparatures on earth. sun is almost burnig. days are too bright. While Marie, her sister and plilip are traveling through the mountains they find Tom on the way. film likes "the road" and the book of eli" it deserves 6/10.
