Jason Dooley and Nia Vardalos have such good chemistry in this movie. I especially loved her when she goes to the talent show.

What should have been a nice little comedy is overwhelmed by Nia Vardalos who doesn't come across as overly involved - she just seems psychotic. It's evident that the director simply lost control when Vardalos signed on. The tone is way off. Vardalos was clearly beyond taking any direction. The other actors are fine - and there is a nice relationship between the boy and his father. But Vandals is just unwatchable.

Modern coming of age story that speaks to today's generation. Very enlightened.

Kam Williams 20 Apr 2015

An alternately humorous and sobering cautionary tale chronicling the woes of an exasperated kid smothered by a well-meaning mom in an era of omnipresent parenting.

Brian Orndorf 22 Apr 2015

Director Salome Breziner is too permissive with her star, but "Helicopter Mom" retains some heart and meaning as it struggles to breathe.
