story is somewhat boring and predictable... otherwise I like the photography and martial art direction

I loved watching this! - both audiovisuals, the storyline and fighting scenes are pretty superb. The ending was slightly protracted perhaps, but no big deal.

This was like Chang Cheh's "jumping" movie. There are just a ton of shots of guys jumping in all sorts of ways, often in slow motion and off spring boards located just off camera. It also has this old western or samurai theme about a hero who doesn't want anything, at all, except a place to sleep, and ends up misunderstood by everyone else. Of course since this loner is played by David Chiang he was the highlight of the movie. Ti Lung really annoyed me for playing such an ass, but he was still great in the fight scenes. It's also pretty bloody in some often poorly edited ways, but I find that sort of stuff forgivable. The ending is really long and drawn out (post-fighting) but appropriate.

This one had its moments, but ultimately was a run of the mill for me. I got frustrated with the motivations not making sense.

despite quite a bit of awkwardness and imperfection, it's still one of my most favourite movies of all time... it's very simple, very understated and very beautiful.
