King Vidor enters the world of sound and does it better than anyone else at the time.

Tricky one this one. the first all black musical. It has a some great performances, and it beats the shit out of "THE BROADWAY MELODY" which was all white and released the same year. It's just all a bit creeky and seems to forget the musical part about a third in.

Good, though at this point probably more interesting historically than for any entertainment value. The musical bits were by far the high points.
