Halla Bol (2008)

Ashfaque (Ajay Devgan) is a small town boy aspiring to be a film star in the Hindi film industry. He joins a street theatre group run by a reformed dacoit Sidhu (Pankaj Kapur) who uses street theatre as a medium to bring about an awakening in the masses. Ashfaque struggles to give a creative vent to the actor in him in order to realize his dreams.

Superb on acting. A compact but powerful performance by Vidya Balan (wish there were more of her), Ajay delivers as usual and Pankaj Kapoor delivers with the ease of a true veteran.

this movie demonstrates - How to waste actors like Ajay, Pankaj and Vidya! Man come on, this kinda story could have made us proud in early 90s, but this era needs something like RDB not sarcastic witty dialogues. Just when the story becomes interesting, the speed breaker of witty humorous dialogues come.

Storywise it was good to see something different. something more hakte from the usual song and dance routine. Message was loud and clear, hats off to Rajkumar Santoshi for the hard hitting boldness. I personally liked the carpet scene where Ajay says "Yeh Desi Ha" kekekeke... and when Vidya boldly states "My husband has balls..." Pankaj Kapur's performance is TOP NOTCH. Vidya and Ajay shine as always. On the whole an entertainer with a message.
