Guns of the Magnificent Seven (1969)

When Mexican revolutionary leader Quintero is left to rot in jail by the forces of President Diaz, it's up to his subordinate, Max, to bust him out. With $600 in hand, he crosses the border into America and hires Chris Adams, a mercenary of considerable skill, who uses the rest of the cash on more hired guns. After the team is rounded out by experts on close-combat fighting, explosives, and knife-throwing, they set off to free Quintero.

Pretty average western which is enhanced somewhat by the good acting skills of George Kennedy. Most of the film is spent getting the seven guns together. Some good action scenes, but they come right at the end during the last 15 mins.

Despite an admirable attempt . Guns of the Magnificent Seven was never going to live up to the first two movies and there is one main reason for that - Yul Brenner. Brenner could never be replaced and although George Kennedy has a certain charm he is a poor replacement. The story is much the same as the first two and thankfully it looks great and still retains that wonderful score but this just goes to prove that they tried to milk a good thing for all it's worth and only ended up bleeding it dry. Pretty much like they do in Hollywood today. This is an average western and is not worthy of the Magnificent Seven name.

160130: The biggest problem with this film, other than the occasional flaw, is the pace. She just putts along, not quite quick enough, not quite exciting enough. Michael Ansara, as Col. Diego, makes a great villain. Decent film but following in awful big footsteps.

again wasnt as good as the others to be fair not sure how this fits in they could have easily done the first to and walked away main downing point was fact was no original cast members in the movie
