Guns of the Magnificent Seven (1969)

When Mexican revolutionary leader Quintero is left to rot in jail by the forces of President Diaz, it's up to his subordinate, Max, to bust him out. With $600 in hand, he crosses the border into America and hires Chris Adams, a mercenary of considerable skill, who uses the rest of the cash on more hired guns. After the team is rounded out by experts on close-combat fighting, explosives, and knife-throwing, they set off to free Quintero.

160130: The biggest problem with this film, other than the occasional flaw, is the pace. She just putts along, not quite quick enough, not quite exciting enough. Michael Ansara, as Col. Diego, makes a great villain. Decent film but following in awful big footsteps.

Third movie in the Magnificent Seven series. Acting crew has been replaced, while character of Chris is the same character. This time around a cousin of one of the Mexicans is looking for help to break their leader out of prison. Of course, everyone in Mexico is a cousin.

Pretty average western which is enhanced somewhat by the good acting skills of George Kennedy. Most of the film is spent getting the seven guns together. Some good action scenes, but they come right at the end during the last 15 mins.
