The film is often moving and explores the discomfort inherent in the contacts between the American "hosts" and their "guests," but its effect is diluted by slow pacing and lengthiness.

Green Dragon falls prey to some threadbare Hollywood conventions, but otherwise maintains a high level of maturity and emotion as it examines the lives of Vietnamese refugees entering America in 1975.

Little known Patrick Swayze, Forest Whitaker gem. Takes a very different look at the war and some of the other aspects of the war and the people it left behind.

Ron Wells 11 Apr 2003

This is a story about purgatory, though it goes by the name Camp Pendleton.

Daniel Eagan 14 Jun 2002

The somber pacing and lack of dramatic fireworks make Green Dragon seem more like medicine than entertainment.
