This could have been a horrible movie, but Dani Levy makes what could be a depressing story about a Jewish family divided by the post WWII partition of Germany and reunified due to the death of a grandmother quite funny.

Very refreshing, clever and entertaining; it makes a pretty good try defying the well known German stereotypes with the jew community, in the most laughable way possible. Even when it is not as good as "Good bye Lennin", I had been waiting for a movie like this from Germany since then.

Hilarious!!! I was actually initially inclined to turn it off and not finish it, but about twenty minutes in, I was glad I gave it a chance. An oddly funny family "tragicomedy," if you will.

I truly believe this is a universal story. If we take it too seriously or focus too hard on the cultural-religious angle, then yes, our family could be offended. But these characters and their delimmas can be found all over the world, in all cultures. I laughed the entire time--the acting was sublime.
