This would have been a lot better if the director's ego had been toned down... say, by nine-tenths.

While there was real tragedy in how the cover-up of Patricia Douglas' rape ruined so many lives, there's another tragedy here: that Patricia Douglas and her family had their tragedy exploited by an opportunistic director. This was all about David Stenn and how he made the movie, how he found the information. The very first scene is him recounting how Jackie Onassis told him if anyone could tell this story it was him. The ego on this man is ridiculous, and what should have been a riveting, powerful documentary was cheapened and ultimately ruined by Stenn's compulsion to ingratiate himself into almost every scene of this film. Big disappointment.

The archival footage was great and Patricia's story heartbreaking but there wasn't a lot of revelation in this documentary. Hollywood takes care of its own?! Shocking!

What is most shocking about this film is how much MGM owned, literally owned, all of Hollywood in the 30's and 40's, which allowed them to do whatever, and I do mean "whatever," they wanted. It only adds to the tragedy of Patricia Douglas's life.

An interesting documentary about a woman who was raped at an MGM party in 1930's LA and then the case was buried for 65 years. Definitely a story worth telling but not quite enough material for a feature film, would have been better as a short subject doc, still worth checking out.
