Docudrama...If you're into revolutions and that sort of thing could be decent..otherwise intensely slow and boring to boot...good intentions meets bad film-making.

Riri Riza, the director, managed to give his best visual interpretation of the already perfectly written script. Nicholas Saputra, the leading actor, also gave his best performance as Gie. Without a doubt, Gie is one of the most important movies in the history Indonesian cinema."

The spirit in this film was great, and nicholas saputra is one of the great actor, i feel like figure him like Leonardo Di Caprio, but his way is still a long way to go, the other side of the world Di Caprio has just found his acting style. Cheer up this movie is great when you wanna see the spirit of indonesia politics in 1965

Salah satu film Indonesia yang digarap dengan cukup baik... A very good story by Riri Riza... He make a great script for this great movie about Indonesia... And Nicholas Saputra who played Gie in this movie, shows a great acting... Two thumbs up!!!

Cerminan pemuda yg pemberani, gag mau jd pengikut, pengkritik pemerintahan yg tajam, hingga membuatnya memiliki banyak musuh. Soe Hok Gie adalah gambaran mahasiswa yg cerdas, dari pemikirannya, dari tulisannya, dari ide2nya. Inspiratif, tp agak keras, susah diatur, sedikit lunak mungkin lebih baik, mungkin. Karena orang jadinya lbih menilai apa yg disampaikan oleh Gie sbgai suatu kritik yg merusak, bukan ide yg cemerlang. Seorang idealis sejati. Namun, Gie harus meninggal di usia muda, meninggal saat melakukan kegiatan yang amat disukainya, mendaki gunung (Gunung Semeru). Apkah kecelakaan yg dialami Gie hingga membuatnya meninggal murni karena kecelakaan? Kecelakaan yg wajar dialami oleh pendaki gunung? Bukan konspirasi? Entahlah....
