Gidget (1959)

Due to an accident while swimming in the sea, Francis meets the surfer Moondoggie. She's fascinated with his sport and starts to hang out with his clique. Although they make fun of her at first, they teach her to surf and soon she's accepted and given the nickname "Gidget". But it's hard work to become more than a friend to Moondoggie.

As a teenager I grew up watching the Gidget series thanks to my mom, who did the same thing. I love it, its got a special place in my heart. But I still don't like Sandra Dee as Gidget, she's a perfect Tammy, however. Deborah Walley or Sally Field make a perfect Gidget though!

I love how ideal and serene this movie makes the world out to be. It almost makes me wish I lived on the west coast, back in the 50s/60s so I could have been a "Gidget" too! :-)
