Can't get the theme song out of my head! This is like Bridget Jones ca. Swinging 60's London, but more dramatic and cynical.

Hugely enjoyable comedy-drama, the film that made Lynn Redgrave a star. She more than holds her own agains the likes of Alan Bates (at his most loveable), Charlotte Rampling (at her most bitchy) and James Mason. Far better than it's reputation suggests, it's a film that sums up the 'sixties for me.

Lynn Redgrave plays Georgy a fat girl who wishes she like her friend, her room-mate who is pretty. Her room-mate has a baby from her boyfriend played by Alan Bates, but they both do not want the responsibility so they give the baby to Georgy who then marries a rich older man who saves the day.
