Gandhi (1982)

In the early years of the 20th century, Mohandas K. Gandhi, a British-trained lawyer, forsakes all worldly possessions to take up the cause of Indian independence. Faced with armed resistance from the British government, Gandhi adopts a policy of 'passive resistance', endeavouring to win freedom for his people without resorting to bloodshed.

I hadn't seen this movie in about 10 years, so it was way past time to re-rent it. Riveting performance from Kingsley; cinematography of truly epic proportions. A moving and inspiring story of (arguably) the most amazing human of the 20th century. An excellent intro to Gandhi's life, activism & philosophy.

No can "make history" like Richard Attenborough does - Great casting. An epic. In a way brought Gandhi alive to a new genetation. Ben kingsley was awesome as Gandhi.

love this movie!! often historical/biographical films fail at being entertaining and thus lose their audience resulting in the audience taking nothing away from the film. This film is nothing like that. well done, and keeps your attention. Great film!

This is a powerful film. Really amazing. I, like most of us, know of Gandhi but don't know much about the man. This film really opened my eyes to just how great of a man he really was. Wow!
