Funeral Kings (2012)

It's always a good day for a funeral at St. Mark's Middle School. Andy and Charlie, two altar servers, don't just get to miss class anytime a parishioner kicks the bucket, they cut out early and play hooky as soon as the service is over. Eventually their irreverent personalities will put them in a situation that is too big for them to handle.

With a Tomatometer of 88% I expected better, but there were parts that were especially endearing if you grew up boy in suburbia America.

Mark Olsen 18 Nov 2012

The easygoing charm of Funeral Kings and its impulse toward honesty over overstatement robs the film of true dramatic tension, and a number of story lines - involving drugs, rivalry, love interests - are left somewhat unresolved.

John Anderson 12 Nov 2012

A raggedy but refreshing yarn about the near-terminal condition known as male adolescence.

James S 18 Mar 2012

It suffers a bit from bad dialogue and acting (they're kids, come on), but for the most part it's very funny and entertaining, and the montages set to music are incredible.

Drew McWeeny 13 Mar 2012

Funeral Kings is confident and controlled and, with an unabashed vulgarity underscoring everything, about as pure a piece of movie memory as I can name.
