Not a bad spaghetti western made more interesting by the fact it was directed by gore hound Lucio Fulci. Not as excessive as some of his other works, but this road movie concentrates more on the study of its characters. Slows down towards the end to it's inevitable show down.worth seeing.

im curious as to why this got such a high rating... and this is coming from a lucio fulci fan i found it to be a little dumb and the black guy character...really annoying the idea was good, but it wasnt executed very well...

This is possibly one of the finest spaghetti westerns ever made, and interestingly enough also one of Lucio Fulci's finest endeavors behind the camera ever. Four people on the wrong side of the law - Stubby the gambler, a pregnant prostitute, the town drunk, and a man who sees ghosts - barely survive a raid on the town they're all at, leaving them journeying to the next closest town. But along the way they encounter Chaco, a rogue who joins their group only to leave them for dead along the way. When Stubby heads off to find Chaco and bring his own justice, you can prepare for an amazing battle. This movie is highly recommended.

Lucio Fulci's masterpiece. One of the most unusual westerns I have ever seen with many classic scenes and a wonderful music score. Tomas Milian is cast against type as the sadistic bad guy Chaco and his convincing performance is one of the film's highlights.

Horror maestro Fulci does a spaghetti Western, and what do you know - it's soaked with blood. A strange dream of a film, this has 4 survivors of a vigilante fascist "cleansing" of a town crossing the desert as they make their way to freedom in some racy destination. Cue a number of random and (mostly) violent encounters, including a rape, a massacre of pilgrims, hallucinations on peyote and cannibalism. Strangest of all is the rather sentimental and rather long sequence in which a whore gives birth to a baby in a town full of male prospectors, who weep at new life coming into the world. There's great performances from Millian as the worst of bandits, Pollard as a soak and, surprisingly, Frederick as the whore. One of the more unusual films of the genre.
