Starship C57D travels to planet Altair 4 in search of the crew of spaceship "Bellerophon," a scientific expedition that has been missing for twenty years. Major influence on modern sci-fi, and great entertainment even today!

I loved this film as a child and it's still one of my favorites. The beautiful and atmospheric use of the theremin, the desolate landscape of Altair IV, the megalithic stature of the Krell technologies, and the madness of Dr. Morbius; all of these and more create a first-rate movie where cuts in budget or acting could have easily seen Forbidden Planet relegated to the B-movie bin.

This is one of the best sci-fi films of all time, and definitely my favorite. It's so much fun to watch, and Robby the robot is the best robot of all time. The plot, although somewhat slow at the start picks up and begins to be very interesting.

Despite its age, the story is still compelling and the effects (particularly the Krell city) are superb.

This is a really wonderful film on many levels, from the 1950s "golden age of sci fi" period feel to the psychological undertones about the ego and the Id. The special effects remain astonishing, even today.
