Flickering Lights (2000)

Four small gangsters from Copenhagen trick a gangster boss: they take over 4,000,000 kroner which they were supposed to bring him. Trying to escape to Barcelona they are forced to stop in the countryside, in an old, wrecked house, hiding there for several weeks. Slowly, one after another, they realize, that they would like to stay there, start a new life.

A hit in Denmark, this impressive debut feature from writer-director Anders Thom as Jensen is decidedly offbeat, with Jensen contrasting moments of brutal violence with the emerging gentleness of Torkild and his friends.

Four Danish criminals hide out from their boss The Eskimo in a dilapidated country restaurant after pocketing the loot from the latest job. Made by Anders Thomas Jensen (ADAM'S APPLES),it's an entertaining mixture of sentimentality, comedy, brutish violence and Danishness.

An arch-typical Danish action movie plot - a small team of Copenhagen gangsters and their inventive ideas. This time, they want to start a new life in order to escape the usual evil network of (Serbian?) city gangsters. They buy a country property in a wood in order to start a new and secret life, and from there it goes, of course, wrong.

Excellent story that shows that all "bad" people have a background and also might have a brighter future in a different surrounding. EXCELLENT MOVIE !
