Final Justice (1984)

Due to his violent past, Deputy Sheriff Thomas Jefferson Geronimo III has been transferred to a rural outpost. When two thugs kill the sheriff, Geronimo shoots one, and the other vows revenge. The thug turns out to be a mob boss, and the court orders Geronimo to extradite him back to Sicily. When their plane is hijacked, the adversaries find their roles reversed.

An incompetent and hilarious mess of a film with the only talent coming from Joe Don Baker who's putting his whole heart into his performance.

I have only seen this film through the TV print viewed through MST3k. THere are some really funny scenes and a lot inconsistencies. however reading from a comment the movie still does not hold up in its original form. The film however is fun to watch and the MST3K crew do a good job. The movie has a funny parts like when Joe Don Bakers kills the guy in the street, the policewoman shoots and somehow kills a guy with a flare gun, the weakness of the character who gets knocked unconcious for just one hit but later on feels nothing from a beer bottle, His need for Maalox and the whole Malta scenery and atmosphere.

While the only version I was able to see of this is the MST3K version, I would say again that I would happily track down the normal release, just to see how corny Joe Don Baker's character comes off without the robots making fun of him constantly. Rental!

The best unqualified black comedy of the 80's really does disappoint in the genres of 'action', 'suspense', and 'drama'. The plot is repetitive after the third time Sherriff Geronimo (for some odd reason, pronounced 'Heronimo') (Joe Don Baker) winds up in the jail of Malta, even though that plot shouldn't have been continued from when the villain was captured (it isn't even well explained why Geronimo has to be brought along to bring him to Italy). And despite being told four times not to pursue the villain, he never learns his lesson and continues trying to get Palermo. The film even ends abruptly after the villain is shot (sorry, spoilers...) with a lousy last line to boot, though it does have a rather catchy song.
