This DVD has some nice off stage footage of Elvis. Onstage footage is... well, it is Elvis, so you know it's good. A must own for all Elvis fans.

The film was somewhat radically reworked for a TCM special edition; the original is like an old-school monster movie that teases the audience before finally giving fans the spectacle they crave -- Elvis, tearing down the house in all his jumpsuited glory.

Although his constant camera mugging makes it obvious that we're not seeing what it was really like, it's kind of interesting watching Elvis behind the scenes preparing for his big comeback concert. At the beginning of rehearsals Elvis seems like he's still a cool guy, but by the time the night of the big show hits he's in a white jumpsuit and singing terrible, terrible music. The interviews with his fans present an interesting 70s freak show- the movie probably would have been more entertaining if it had used that as it's focus.

as far as concert movies go. nobody could do em like the king. it can be a little bitter sweet. sadly because you are seeing the king at the early stages of his downfall. he is noticeably doped up and exhausted. that doesn't stop him from belting out classics like "suspicious minds" and the "wonder of you" its well shot and you really feel the atmosphere of what it would of been like too see the king. this film will always have a place in my heart, because without fail it is played early hours of the morning every time i go to my friends parties. a classic piece of presley.
