This was a rather strange movie to say the least. It was hard to watch at the beginning because of all the darkness and light flickering, but turned to be a pretty decent movie.

: Stylish thriller set in a sci-fi dystopia. The greenish-gray palette with the occasional splash of salmon pink, and the dank, dripping, claustrophobic catacombs festooned with dangling wires, tubes and pipes put me in mind of Jeunet and Gilliam. Dialogue is minimalâ??incoherent grunts, shouts and shrieks get equal time with spoken language. The story is basic. The fun was in the journey. Still, this may be not be everyone's cup of tea.

Though it looks like a highly polished, quasi-avant-garde bit of speculative fiction, contemporary French sci-fi flick Eden Log is really a far-flung descendant of the Heavy Metal comics of the '70s and '80s.

I could go either way on "Eden Log." It was an interesting story, and well-acted in my opinion. However, the plotline was a bit muddled (deliberately, I believe), and the conclusion didn't provide good resolution for me. There were a lot of parallels, in my opinion, with the Hugh Jackman movie "The Fountain," which made the conclusion less creative than the rest of the movie proved to be. Certainly not a movie for everyone, but I'm glad to have seen it.
