This follow-up to Tobe Hooper's "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is so mindblowingly bad it's amazing that he was ever able to make movies again after this. Great cinematography and atmosphere are wasted on a non-story, a killer without motive and a film without a single real character. It's been a while since a movie actually made me angry, and this one nearly made me break my TV screen. Why oh why do I do this to myself?

Here's an odd one. The lighting is bathed in hazy and overbearing primary colors. The acting is laughable - and there are times when its perfectly in place and then not. There's a ton of that kind of werid, inexplicable and clumsy behavior which seemed to permeate any really trashy horror flick from the 70s. We are treated to sequence after sequence of confusing, muddled activity. Almost all the characters are insane or idiotic. This would all be great if the film was half as genuinely frightening as Hooper's 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' - but it is sadly nowhere near as grim or brutal or shocking. Tobe Hooper could craft a wonderful, harrowing mood but here it has nowhere to go. Not as fun as it should have been.

All of the horrible acting, bad writing, and bizarre plot aside; I really did enjoy this film by Tobe Hooper (director of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"). It some how grabbed my attention the entire time by providing some of the most outrageously awkward characters on film.

really Weird, creepy characters. Lame story, but the grime factor made it enjoyable.
