Obviously, most people just don't get this movie. It really is one of the best movies I've ever seen, and I'm not kidding when I say that. I wish more movies were like this. It's NOT a slasher film, it's... just watch it. It's quite amazing, it really is. You've never seen anything like it.

Low budget horror from the 1970s that used to make it to video shops in the early 80s mixed between countless Michael Caine tat and Mutiny On The Bounty. Here the owner of a hotel feeds his guests to his pet crocodile after inflicting several injuries himself. Great hospitality. The cast isn't bad for the budget. In particular look out for a young Robert Englund in his pre-Freddy Kreuger days. The movie is directed by Tobe Hooper of Texas Chainsaw Massacre fame. The studio interiors of the hotel remind me of poor Granada Coronation Street sets. The DVD I watched was quite poor although I understand the movie has now being remastered and released in widescreen in the US. The crocodile mechanical effects are of Jaws Great White notoriety. The trouble with films like this is they are released with countless titles in different territories. In the UK it is Death Trap not Eaten Alive which is the US title of the movie. The movie did have a brief cinema release and was made prior to the boom of home VHS (or Betamax!).

Eaten alive is about a motel owner with some mental issues. People show up and he gets to killing. You never really do figure out what exactly Judd's problem is. He lost his leg to this gator is that why he kills people? I don't know. Overall a relatively disappointing feature for something starring Robert Englund and directed by Tobe Hooper. Stay away because watching this will leave you time Eaten Alive.

With an enviable, well-stocked cast of character thespians and a carefully dilapidated motel set, Eaten Alive is all ingredients, no recipe.

Le crocodile de la mort: Un ovni complÃ (C)tement fou rÃ (C)alisÃ (C) par Tobe Hooper le rÃ (C)alisateur de Massacre Ã la tronÃ§onneuse. Faut quand mÃªme admettre que le Tobe il est pas bien bien dans sa tÃªte et que c'est pas une mauvaise chose qu'il fasse des films sinon il serait assez dangereux je pense.
