Dreadful follow up effort to Texas Chainsaw Massacre by director Tobe Hooper. The innkeeper of a cheap hotel kills guests and feeds them to his pet alligator. One of those films that make you feel worse for watching it after it's over. There is only so much I want to see of a creepy guy trying to kill a little girl while her mom is bound and gagged. Another one for the trash heap.

Obviously, most people just don't get this movie. It really is one of the best movies I've ever seen, and I'm not kidding when I say that. I wish more movies were like this. It's NOT a slasher film, it's... just watch it. It's quite amazing, it really is. You've never seen anything like it.

This film is strange. The colours are very prominent, like technicolor but like B-Movie technicolor, like it was shot by HG Lewis in the 60s or an early John Waters. Even the strange acting intensity is and hammy portrayals lend themselves to HG Lewis and John Waters. The sets seemed really fake as well as the crocodile in it as well. The story was kind of convoluted as well and didn't make much sense. The first lines spoken in the film are from a young Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger) telling us "Name's Buck, rarin' tah fuck." All this said the film does retain a charm and is a unique and enjoyable little gem.

It's not as good as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre but it is still entertaining and worth a watch.

Tobe Hooper's "Eaten Alive" is very trashy and weird, and although it is not really scary, and even gets a bit boring in some points, it is an entertaining little flick.
