A stupid yet watchable rip-off. Earth vs the Spider is a remake of the 1958 B-movie of the same name. While watching this film I got many deja vu moments, and it wasn't until a certain phase in the metamorphosis that it dawned on me. This remake was ripping off another remake. The 1986 remake of the 1958 classic, the Fly. These remakes are just so similar. The metamorphosis, the realization that they're monsters, and the sacrificial finale. Even though there is nothing original about it, this movie is still watchable. Just make sure you turn your IQ down before watching this remake. Earth vs The Spider gets a 6 out of 10.

The comparisons to Spider-Man are unfortunately inevitable. While it certainly doesn't equal Raimi's efforts it's an amusing "What if..." scenario. Sadly it's mostly "what if our hero was almost entirely unlikeable and devoid of character". A pleasant diversion, nothing more.

I watched this film on my new FIOS system, in the hope that it would be an interesting hidden gem of a comic book movie, a hit-or-miss genre that lately has had more misses. What I ended up watching, was a ridiculous, not-bad-enough-to be good movie, that had both Dan Aykroid, and John Cho, both of whom have seen better days. The premise, we've all seen before: geek falls for a girl, geek is injected with super spider juice, geek turns into a spider, geek gets more than he bargained for. Devon Gummersall, the aforementioned geek tries admirably, but with a bad script, bad special effects, and worse directing, this one just sucks. Don't fall into this web.

An interesting film that could have been proved upon in many ways , but the concept is genius.
