this probably is monroe's best performance, playing an unstable character very close to the edge and she is genuinely scary. richard widmark gives great support as a frustrated guy just trying to make time whose cynicism grows into compassion. and anne bancroft looks smashing in her film debut. suspenseful and underrated.

It's a pleasure to see Marilyn in a serious role of a psychotic suicidal young woman, and she does it very convincingly. A Marilyn Monroe classic.

A great performance by Marilyn Monroe. She really proved herself as a great actress in this interesting film.

Marilyn Monroe plays a mentally disturbed girl, who is supposed to be on the mend. Her uncle gets her a babysitting job, things don't go so well from there. There is also a side story going on about a pilot that can't commit to the lounge singer. I think the movie would have moved a long better if they had left that out.

not a typical dumb-blonde, but a psycho baby sitter. something different from marilyn monroe.
