Garrone's film is a one-note loop of a persistently passive man.

Dopo il film d'esordio, da me non particolarmente apprezzato, devo dire che per me Garrone non ha sbagliato un colpo! I suoi film, quasi tutto tra realtá e finzione, riflettono un Italia colorata, malate e purtroppo pericolosa, e "Dogman" non è un eccezione. Con una fotografia meravigliosa e con un carattere centrale che piú "caratteristico" non potrebbe essere, questo film ispirato alla vicenda del canaro della magliana, si trasforma in una triste fiaba sulla perdita (tardiva magari) dell'innocenza, dove l'unica empatia che si puó provare, è quella per il mondo animale.

Garrone's resistance to any semblance of logic or reason on Marcello's part is troubling. When the violence and absurdity reach a fever pitch, the serious elements feel like a farce, stuck at the mercy of a film that just wants to push buttons.
