Devil Hunter (1980)

The lovely Laura, on a modelling job in South Africa, is kidnapped by a gang who carry her off into the jungle from where they demand a huge ransom. Two men set off in a helicopter to rescue her, little knowing what horrors Laura is enduring in the meantime in the savage clutches of a primitive and bloodthristy world. Laura's rescuers not only have to face the cruel violence of her captors - but also the horrifying lust for blood of a primitive and cruel god.

A grandious surrealistic Cannibal Movie / Sexploitation Crossover from the Sexploitation Master Jess Franco with a real scary Cannibal Chiefhood and a Hot Female Lead Character

I was expecting it to be crap and it was, and I relished in every aspect of its absolutely shiteness. Nudity and voilence just for the sake of it and one of the funniest wrestling scenes committed to celluloid ever...loving those pin-pong ball eyes!

Not one of Francos best efforts. Plus considering the fact that he has stated that he hates cannibal films and this very much shows. The pace of the film is so slow, lots of the film is padded out with long shots of greenery and abysmal music. And when you finally get to see some action it is poorly done and all too brief. I wasnt expecting an Oscar worthy film from a cannibal movie. But I did at least expect some cannibals?

This is classic cannibal exploitation filmmaking if I've ever seen it. Nudity, gore, and a sex crazed killer cannibal with bugged out eyes makes this an interesting tale. It's too bad the copy of the film I saw was just terrible as I'm sure I would have enjoyed the film much more if I could have actually seen more of it. Being a Jess Franco joint, it does have a cult following but I think that's about as far as a film like this will ever go. At least the story is easy to follow despite jumping around at first.
