Most famous nowadays for being one of Francis Ford Coppola's first movies, but it's still a low budget Roger Corman b-movie. Coppola is still a novice here, so the overall execution has plenty of flaws. But there are still flashes of brilliance here and there, most notably in the sense of mystery and creepiness that carries through much of the movie. So while it's not terribly great, there's still enough that works to make for an interesting little mystery/horror flick.

This film really caught me off guard.. I was expecting your A typical horror flick from around that time - which would mean, a little silly - but it tries to be scary.. I was wrong.. While this film isn't perfect, it has a lot more "gore" and shock value to it than I thought it would - considering the era in which it was released.. No need to rush out and see this movie - but if your looking for some old fashioned horror fun, this film might just be right up your alley.

This early Coppola-directed,Corman-produced thriller plays like most of Corman's horror films from the era: a cheap and cheesy but highly entertaining piece of B-movie fun. Dementia 13 manages to outshine some of the similar films through the genuinely twisted family history that serves as the backdrop to story's action.
