Deep in the Woods (2000)

A group of artists, composed of the young actors Wilfried and Matthieu and the actresses Sophie, Mathilde and the dumb Jeanne, is hired by a millionaire, Axel de Fersen, to present a performance of Little Red Riding Hood in his isolated castle to celebrate the birthday of his grandson. Meanwhile, the police advises that a serial killer is raping and killing young women in the woods around that area. During the night, the group feels trapped and threatened in the castle, guessing who is and where might be the killer.

Very uninvolving and cold French horror thriller. The setting of the film is good, but the filmmakers don't make enough of it. Slow moving. Bland. It did have some good camerawork.

some very beautiful bits but mostly pretentious and nonsensical.

french thriller/horror, as usualwith these films, involving a young group alone in a house for a bit of a holiday, and job, strange going ons, and murders happen, nicely shot, certsinly a lot better shot than these merican teen slasher movies, not entirely predictable, and being european, gives sence it could go anywhere,

French slasher-in-the-woods opus based on "Little Red Riding Hood." Slow, ornate, moody, nonsensical, salacious, tres Euro. so, yeah, legitimately Argento-esque. Promising debut for its young, talented director.

I think this is my first french horror flick. I really enjoyed it. I saw the main guy in a short "Falcone" which was pretty damn good and decided to check this out. I liked it.
