There are some wonderful moments in this film, and the interaction between Davis, Rains, and Henreid is electric, but there was something flat about the plot and it dragged in some places. Very stunning lighting and visual feel about the film. The scene in the french restaurant is a masterpiece of how to build tension in a non-Hitchcock sort way.

Given my previous experience with "old movies" I was ready to be highly entertained by this supposed classic. I was not. I feel bad saying this, but it was not a good movie. It was just above sucking, actually. The ending was about as anti-climactic as could ever be imagined.

Deliciously wicked movie that proves that some actors just make magic. Rains and Davis once again play off each other to make this story really come to life.
