I have not watched the anime but I want to because I bought it on dvd but I maybe will watch and I have not read the manga but I love the death note movie and who ever hate me for that fucked you

Death Note is a faithful adaptation that, while competent in its own right, sets up everything for what could be an amazing sequel.

The actors and soundtrack were amazing. Even if you've seen or read the inspiring material this movie was based on, it was hard to predict what would happen next. Great visuals as well. Loved it!

Some will say it was whitewashed, it isn't like the original... I was one of those saying that as well... But I bothered myself to watch it nonetheless before making a review of it. I have to say... It was amazing. As the authors of Death Note themselves said, the essence of the Anime... The core principle is magnificently presented in the movie. It is an American adaptation, it is not meant to be the same as the anime or else that would be boring... You cannot expect to have the main characters when they live in completely different cities with different lifestyles. Overall, very good. The casting of Light... Eh... I would have liked someone better looking cause Light Yagami was a charmer, but the actor did an amazing job nonetheless. Must be watched before critisized so harshly.
