Definitely, the most original trilogy in film. If you've seen the other 2 films you're obliged to see this one just be prepared to be unimpressed. The folk singer at the end rocks!

Miike fans who were disappointed by the second installment in the Dead or Alive trilogy should be happy with this one as it returns to more of a straightforward action movie formula. The plot is recycled from a million movies but the setting and colorful characters keep things interesting and moving along nicely. Also in typical Miike fashion there are nice out of genre moments that don't make sense otherwise but make the viewing experience all the more worth it.

Although some viewers will not be able to stomach so much tongue-in-cheek weirdness, those who do will have found a cult favorite to enjoy for a lifetime.

Takashi Miike is a master at making love-'em-or-loathe-'em spectacles, but even fans are likely to consider the final film of his Dead or Alive trilogy a minor entry in his oeuvre.

Truly truly horrific. The chainlink fence gay saxophone love scene is probably the lowest point. One full star for the extremely offkey ending. Zero stars for everything else.
