Dakota Skye (2008)

For as long as she could remember, Dakota Skye has been cursed with a super power. She has the ability to see the truth in any lie she hears. From small, harmless white lies, to the more devious kind, they have come from the people that she should trust the most; her family, friends and teachers. These lies have snowballed, leading to her becoming bitter and apathetic towards the world around her.

This is a fine film, good performances, but I just wish that Dakota wasn't quite so bitchy and a bit more likable. It's a different film, I appreciate the effort towards something unique. It has a good message. Well written, it does an amazing job with the budget.

this was a cute little movie. the basic premise of the movie is simple, but the addition of dakota's "superpower" gave it a nice spin. i also like that everyone seems pretty much fucked out of happiness until the end.

Dakota Skye layers a pleasing fantasy element onto a thoughtful study of teen alienation and angst.

This movie is made for teens but it lacks the lust overall it simply was a bust. Yes, this movie has all the Cliches. And some might find it to their dismay, It has tons of kitchy disolvs with bad music, And maybe the thing up my "blank" is a large pool stick, But it's not the acting that makes this bad, It's the bad writing that makes this sad. It's about a girl who has a super power to "see through lies", who falls for a guy to her own surprise, who never lies but is her boyfriends best friend! And who we all know she will end up with in the end... And the cheesy voice over serves no purpose. Did I mention this film never goes bellow the surface? Theirs more to say, but I'll save your eye, If your to miss one film this year, make it "Dakota Skye" Review by me - Eli Katzoff

I very much enjoyed this charming little movie about a woman who knows when anyone is lying. What starts out looking like a charming comedy about a low-level superhero turns out to be much more grounded.
