Stale, flat and unprofitable might be how Shakespeare would have also described this uninvolving David Sedaris adaptation.

I watched it because David Sedaris is mentioned numerous times on The American Life so I figured why not. The film is basically about one man's questioning of his life and becoming accepting of said life. I didn't get much else from it.

Please, save yourself an hour of your life, and skip this movie. I sort of like sadaris, but this movie is honestly one of the worst I have ever seen. The story has all the depth of a mud puddle, stereotypical rich kid goes to the farm, with a twist that would have been groundbreaking circa 1922. I watched this with a group of people, and we all looked around as the movie ended with a collective, wtf was that. I can't believe anyone would rate this above a 3, unless they did not want to insult sadaris, or giving it a pass cause liking indie films makes you hip.

No its not a comedy, though there were a few moments that were hilarious. And maybe its not like the short-story, but when is a movie exactly like the written work on which it is based?. And yes the ending was abrupt, because sometimes its not about the destination but the journey. There was some drifting but i felt this added to the feel of the movie. So my review is I liked this movie.

Enjoyable albeit pretty depressing end. Very polished and well directed. If nothing else a good performance by Jon Groff.
