At a distended two hours, the film becomes a bit of a slog as it deliberately tracks Sobiech’s senior year of high school as he bravely marches — with equal parts humor and sorrow — toward his demise.

The tears in Clouds are built in. But all this manipulation feels excessive, unnecessary padding for a story that needed a vigorous trimming to break your heart and uplift you as it does.

Amy Nicholson 15 Oct 2020

While Clouds is as doe-eyed and puppyish as an acoustic serenade, Baldoni is wise to recognize that attention must be paid to Zach’s survivors.

David Ehrlich 14 Oct 2020

Clouds keeps its focus squarely on the ground from start to finish, and it soars that much higher for it.
