Clarissa (1941)

A disturbing epic portraying Lovelace's systematic moral destruction of the pious Clarissa, depitcting his brutal taking of her only to find himself morally disgusted at what he'd done. Strong earthy suxual performace by Sean bean and an excellent performance by Saskia whickham

Frankly, I was rather disturbed by this...by what lengths a man would go to in order to soil an innocent life. Still, the performances were solid, especially that of Sean Bean, who has a somewhat discomforting talent of portraying bastards (but his Richard Sharpe makes up for it, mostly).

This movie is not for the faint of heart! Based on the tragic novel of the same name, this chilling tale demonstrates the obsession evil has to destroy good. The acting is absolutely superb, and Sean Bean certain plays the part of the villain to perfection. He made my blood run cold...and here I thought he was the epitome of wickedness in Scarlett! If you loved Dangerous Liaisons then this might be the film for you.

The reason this is one of my favourite movies is basically for the moral, because it is SO twisted in this version that I Laughed the entire way through it. The Moral of this story is being a good, upright, honest, loving daughter will get you completely Nothing and you will die, because you wanted true love and were given a man who looked like a leper to marry.
