Highly relevant and thought provoking. However, there are some pacing issues and I feel the focus was more on Snowden rather than intelligence overreach which is what I would have rather seen more of personally.

This is documentary film operating at the level of last year's The Act of Killing. Oh, and it's also a nice reminder that there are much bigger problems in the US than police brutality, racism, and sexism.

Citizenfour provides a powerful, in depth look into the whistle blower who revealed multiple civil liberty infringements on behalf of the NSA and the American government. The documentary is raw and captivating, and the one-on-one interviews with Eric Snowden portray a man who is genuinely concerned about the privacy rights of his fellow Americans and the over-reach of the NSA. Citizenfour is a must-see for anyone who values individual privacy rights.

It's rare to hate a film so much AND like it at the same time but that's what this 2014 documentary does for me. Ed Snowden just wants the world to know what the U.S. government is doing with regards to tracking people. Which reminds me. Hello NSA.
